Why is Cadillac going electric now?

Cadillac, like the rest of General Motors (GM), is committed to delivering a future with zero crashes, zero emissions and zero congestion. Advancements in battery technology and availability of public infrastructure have made it easier than ever to own an electric vehicle and procure these advancements.  Cadillac brought to market the first SUV off GM’s all-new battery electric architecture and will continue to make breakthroughs in hands-free driving technologies. By the end of the decade almost all Cadillac vehicles in the portfolio will be EVs.

What is the significance of “IQ”, why LYRIQ?

The IQ naming signals that Cadillac is bringing a different type of vehicle to market, one that works in concert with people, nature and machine. The name LYRIQ was chosen as a nod to Cadillac’s rich history in music.

What is LYRIQ’s range?

With a full charge, LYRIQ offers GM-estimated 495 kilometers2 of driving range in RWD configuration and 494 kilometers2 in AWD configuration9.

What is LYRIQ’s 0-60km time?

Performance is part of Cadillac’s DNA and this will remain unchanged as we begin to add EVs to our portfolio.

  • The RWD LYRIQ will achieve a 0-60 time under 6 seconds5
  • The AWD LYRIQ is expected to achieve a 0-60 time under 5 seconds5

How long does it take to charge LYRIQ?

LYRIQ offers high-speed DC fast charging at 190 kW – enabling customers to add an estimated 120 km of range in just 10 minutes1

At home, LYRIQ can charge at the fastest speeds currently allowed by industry standards when equipped with an optional Level 2 19 kW charge module, which allows for up to 80 km of range per charging hour1

What is the warranty on LYRIQ?

LYRIQ will offer a 4 year/80.000 km bumper to bumper limited warranty and an 8 year/160,000 km electric vehicle propulsion battery warranty.

Over time, lithium batteries become less efficient. How do you combat this natural decay?

Our industry-first almost completely wireless battery management system not only helps safeguard battery health over our vehicle’s lifespan by balancing chemistry within the individual battery cell groups for optimal performance, but it also makes the batteries easier to reuse in other applications after their term of service in vehicles is over.

What is Ultium?

Ultium references GM’s new proprietary batteries which power our highly flexible, third-generation global EV platform. We chose the name because it invokes positive themes around energy, power and strength. Learn more about Ultium on GM’s global website here.

1  Actual charge times will vary as they are dependent on many factors including, but not limited to, individual driving style, battery & vehicle condition, output of charger both in a domestic & commercial capacity; electrical infrastructure supporting the charger, environmental conditions, road and traffic conditions, vehicle settings and outside temperature, weight, extra features (accessories, wheels or tyres). Such factors impact the performance of the vehicle and therefore the charging range. See the vehicle’s Owner’s Manual for additional information.

2 final kilometre range and charging times are being certified and will be published at a later date
